What I fix

Most calls are one of these

Repair and recovery is the core of what I do. If you're not sure which bucket you're in, just describe what's happening and I'll sort it out.

Slow or crashing computers

Freezes, blue screens, won't boot, takes forever to start, fans roaring. I find the real cause instead of swapping parts and hoping.

Virus & malware removal

Pop-ups, fake warnings, a machine that's been hijacked, or hidden programs quietly slowing things down. A full deep clean — not a quick surface scan.

Lost & recovered files

Deleted photos, a drive that won't open, errors when you try to copy things off. I'll recover what's recoverable — and tell you honestly if a case needs a specialist lab.

Laptop hardware repair

Won't charge, won't power on, dead battery, broken ports. I diagnose the real fault and tell you whether it's worth fixing before you spend a dime.

Upgrades & new setup

More memory, a solid-state drive to make an old machine feel new, or moving everything to a computer you just bought — set up properly with your files intact.

Also build custom & gaming PCs — ask if that's what you need.

Wi-Fi & home networking

Dead zones, a router that keeps dropping, a printer that won't connect. Reliable internet and devices that just work across your whole home.

How it works

Handing over your computer
shouldn't feel like a gamble

Four steps, and you're in control at every one. No surprise charges, no mystery, no "we'll call you maybe."

STEP 01

Tell me the symptoms

Call, text, or use the form. Describe what's going on in your own words — that's plenty for me to start.

STEP 02

Diagnosis & clear price

I find the real problem and give you a flat price. Nothing gets fixed until you say go.

STEP 03

Drop off or go remote

By-appointment drop-off in Scranton, or we connect remotely for software issues — whichever suits you.

STEP 04

Fixed & walked through

Most jobs done same or next day. I explain what I found and what I did in plain language.

Pricing & policies

No mystery bills. Here's the deal.

Exact cost depends on the problem, but you'll always have a real number before anything happens. These are typical starting points.

Typical pricing

Starting points for common jobs — confirmed in your quote.

  • DiagnosisApplied toward your repair if you go ahead$45
  • Virus & malware cleanupFull deep cleanfrom $90
  • Speed-up / tune-upStartup, cleanup, overheatingfrom $80
  • SSD upgrade + data transferPlus the cost of the drivefrom $120
  • New computer setupMove your files & settings overfrom $90
  • Remote supportPer hour, billed by the half-hour$70/hr

Parts are quoted separately and keep their manufacturer warranty. Custom builds and data recovery are quoted per project after I see what's involved.

How I work

  • You approve the price before any work
If the quote isn't worth it to you, you only owe the diagnosis fee — and you keep that for shopping around.
  • No parts swapped without asking
I won't replace anything you didn't approve. Old parts are yours to keep on request.
  • 30-day labor warranty
If the same problem returns within 30 days, I fix it again at no labor charge.
  • Honest "don't bother" advice
If a repair costs more than the machine is worth, I'll tell you straight and help you weigh the alternatives.
  • Your files stay private
I don't open personal files unless the repair requires it — and I'll tell you when it does.

Who you're calling

A local tech, not a call center

I'm Paul. I've spent years building and repairing computers for people around Scranton — everything from clearing nasty infections and recovering files off failing drives to rescuing laptops everyone else had written off.

When you call Foxworx, you reach the person who'll actually do the work. No ticket queue, no rotating staff, no upsell script. Just a straight answer about what's wrong and what it'll take to fix.

Your data & privacy

I don't browse, copy, or access personal files unless the repair directly requires it — and I'll tell you when that's the case. If a password is needed, I explain why first. For recovery jobs, your files are handled only to recover them and aren't kept afterward.

Good questions

Before you call

Drop-off is by appointment in Scranton. Once we've talked and you're booked, I'll give you the exact drop-off details. Many software problems can also be handled remotely without you going anywhere.
Diagnosis is a flat $45, and it goes toward the repair if you decide to move forward. If you'd rather not do the repair, you only owe the diagnosis — no pressure, and you keep that assessment to use however you like.
Most common repairs are done the same or next day. If a job needs a part ordered in, I'll tell you that up front along with the expected wait — not after you've been sitting a week.
My main focus is Windows PCs and laptops, where I can give you the best results. For Mac hardware issues I'll point you to the right place rather than guess — but for things like virus concerns, file recovery, or general setup, reach out and I'll let you know if I can help.
Yes. Labor on the repair I performed is covered for 30 days — if the same issue comes back in that window, I re-fix it at no labor charge. Any new parts also keep their own manufacturer warranty.
Often, yes — if the drive is still readable, I can usually recover deleted or stranded files. If a drive has failed mechanically and needs a clean-room lab, that's beyond a normal repair and I'll tell you honestly rather than risk making it worse.
They stay private. I don't open or copy personal files unless the repair genuinely requires it, and I'll tell you when it does. For recovery work, your files are only handled to recover them and aren't kept once the job is done.
You start every session — I never call you out of the blue or leave anything running on your machine afterward. We connect only when you've arranged it, I do the work while you watch, and access ends when we're done. I'll never ask for payment by gift card or anything unusual.
